Lichen Planus

Lichen planus is an itchy rash characterized by bumps and plaques, often on the hands and feet, but can become more generalized. It can also occur in the mouth and on the scalp. Scalp lichen planus (lichen planopilaris) may be associated with scarring and hair loss. As this condition may be difficult to manage, prompt dermatologic assessment and management are recommended. Your doctor may recommend a laboratory assessment and oral medication to treat your lichen planus. In some cases, a biopsy may be recommended as well.
